Meet Dr. Sophia Pan, DAOM, L.Ac., Taiwan M.D.

Dr. Sophia Pan, DAOM, L.Ac., Taiwan M.D., owner of the Eastern Medicine & Acupuncture CenterDr. Sophia Pan (Xiu-Fen Pan) draws upon more than 19 years of clinical experience as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Taiwan and the United States to provide a dedicated, compassionate, and comprehensive care to her patients.

Sophia Pan trained both in Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine in Taiwan. She graduated from China Medical University and gained considerable experience from many years of practice as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, working with the best specialists at the Wan Fang Hospital, the Taiwan City Hospital, and the Hospital of China Medical University.

Dr. Pan has perfected her pulse diagnostic skills, allowing her to recommend effective herbal and acupuncture therapies to address the unique and evolving condition of her patients. She specializes in internal medicine, dermatology, gynecology and gastroenterology.

Sophia Pan has been treating patients in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2011. She opened the Eastern Medicine & Acupuncture Center as her private practice in Walnut Creek, California and is part of the health professional acupuncture staff at North East Medical Services. Dr. Pan also taught theoretical and clinical traditional Chinese medicine to students enrolled in a graduate degree program at Five Branches University in San Jose, CA.

Dr. Sophia Pan has been using acupuncture and herbal therapy to successfully treat various difficult cases of autoimmune diseases, asthma, sciatica, fibromyalgia, back pain, arthritis, migraine, eczema, insomnia, allergy, facial pain, and menstrual problems.

Sophia is devoted to improving the physical and emotional state of the people in her care using holistic and natural remedies. She promotes Oriental Medicine in public and local Buddhist community health fairs. When she is not practicing or teaching, Sophia enjoys hiking, bicycling, and cooking with her husband Eric.

Education and Licenses

Dr. Sophia Pan holds a M.D. degree from China Medical University, Taiwan (2001) and a DAOM degree from Five Branches University, San Jose, CA (2016).

Sophia Pan is a licensed acupuncturist in the State of California since 2011 and a licensed Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Taiwan since 2001.

Dr. Sophia Pan is an experienced traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, sought after for the quality of her pulse diagnostic. Sophia gained considerable experience from more than 10 years of practice in Taiwan, following her degree from China Medical University, before starting a practice in the United States in 2011.

In addition to her dedication for the care of her patients, Dr. Pan taught clinical and theoretical classes to aspiring TCM practitioners at Five Branches University in San Jose, CA, and has been supporting new graduates in their practice.

Dr. Pan maintains her medical license in Taiwan and returns for a few weeks a year of practice with local specialists to keep up with the latest advances in treatments.
